New preprint!
In this manuscript (the first direcly derived from the project!) we tested the association between epigenetic potential and dispersal in wild pied flycatchers, with the hypothesis that higherepigenetic potential may facilitate successfull settlement in novel environments through increased phenotypic plasticity. "Pilot" nestbox population
... will flycatchers like the new neighborhood?
Last spring (2024) we located 16 nestboxes in a new field site, about 150 km north of the main study population. Breeding season started later here - compared to the main study population - , and Pied flycatchers occupied 3 nestboxes (not bad for a first year!). We will see whether next season the attractiveness of our boxes increases for the birds now that they are used to seeing them there!
